Association Sponsorship Trends

Association sponsorships are in need of a serious makeover, according to Industry insider IEG.  Spending is almost flat for this year with projections of $548M.  That’s only a 3% increase, lagging behind hefty increases in sports and entertainment partnerships.

Like most markets, there are haves and have-nots with not much happening in the middle.  The problem:  associations with the standard “bronze-silver-gold” packages are being left behind in favor of more customized partnerships.

What’s hot now:  limiting the number of partners and designing more year-round opportunities.  The benchmark now is access to the membership, not awareness.  Experts who go beyond the speech and move towards facilitating that access will be on the inside track.
