Get Into the Game

For years, I’ve preached, cajoled, and pleaded with thought leaders to turn their brilliance into a game.  Now the train is leaving the station.  Let’s get our game on with these trends from the Fall issue of Training Magazine.

  • Online simulations have arrived.  In the past, I’ve given resources and ideas on creating games for the classroom.  Bad news:  that format is becoming obsolete, with online competitions reaching critical mass.
  • Role-plays are morphing into virtual reality.  Remember those facilitated role plays in the classroom?  What’s hot now is a blend of online role playing with a coach choosing options in the background.  This could be a new role for facilitators and coaches who want to leverage their expertise, but also want to give the customized experience.
  • Tokens, points, etc., are out.  Compelling narratives are in.  A great place for our storytelling skills, don’t you think?

Your next best step:  explore.  Fire up your Google search and check out possible partners.  This isn’t something to be done alone.  Translating your insights into an experience will skyrocket your passive revenue.  Worth checking out.  For more trends, check out this Training Today magazine article.
