A big question in our industry:  how much content do you give away?  The answer:  enough to create confidence, according to this study from tech support iYogi Insights.  The upshot:  42% were willing to pay after initially using the product/service at no charge.  The most surprising statistic:  conversion rates were highest for first-time users.

Don’t let the techie examples slow you down.  This is great news for experts with subscription services, membership sites, etc.

The key:  offering something for free communicates confidence in the product.  And…there needs to be a trial period for ongoing use of subscriptions and products.  Here’s more information about the study.
