Grateful for My Problems

We have a running joke in our family.  Every time someone starts complaining, one of us will pipe up with, “Hey, that sounds like a first world problem.”  It’s a great reminder that compared to other folks, we have it pretty good.

Here in the U.S., we are celebrating Thanksgiving by counting our blessings.  Here’s an idea:  let’s add another piece to our gratitude list.  Right next to our greatest hits, let’s inventory what we worry most about.  Then…stop and think.  Chances are, many of those concerns will be small stuff compared to death, disease, and other destructive forces our neighbors face.  Small problems can be just another thing to be grateful for.  Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
