Great Blog on the C-Suite

Many of us who speak in the $10,000 plus range find that our buyers are not the logistics-driven meeting planners, but those who reside in the C-suite.  This presents two challenges:  1) how to find and contact these folks; and, 2) how to tap into their perspective to have an effective conversation.

Here’s one handy source for the latter:  Tim Brown’s blog from Successful Meeting Magazine.  I rarely recommend other blogs (most are ruminations and opinions without facts), but this Mr. Brown has a great view from 30,000 feet.  His monthly posts are a quick read and can make you think.

While he addresses how meeting planners deal with senior execs, I find his posts can be applied to our situation.  Take out his stats on meeting spend, and insert learner outcomes and impact.

I also like the way he drives home one key message:  C-suites care about three things:  people, productivity, and profitability.  If we address those, we’re already better than the dozens of those experts-turned-speakers who focus on their story.

And just in case you are wondering:  no, I do not know Tim Brown.  Here’s his blog if you want to check him out.
