Idea of the day: Featured Snippet. You probably don’t know what that is—and I didn’t either until I read this article from Search Engine Land—“How to rank for ‘position 0’ in 3 simple steps: A featured snippets primer.”

This is on my radar because it sounds like a great tactic for folks who can solve problems our clients face. (That’s us.) Featured Snippets also work if you have great content but not a lot of backlinks. (Yep, guilty as charged.) My favorite part: the step-by-step process. Why? Two reasons:

• By outlining the process, the author helps me determine if this technique will work for me. I get a glimpse of the journey before I commit.

• The steps help me decide what kind of help I may need. This article does a good job with sources and specific steps. And it helps me realize I’m not equipped to implement this by myself. Knowing what needs to be outsourced also helps me decide how to move forward.

Your clients get great ideas like this all the time. But when you can go one step further and help them decide, that assistance can set you apart. Outlining the journey is a great way to provide value. Let’s all take a page from the author’s playbook.
