Public Events Growing

Public events industry — those large trade shows, exhibits — are growing in spite of economic concerns, according to the International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE).  Highlights from the “Public Events Industry 2011” survey report:

  • Thirty-two percent plan to launch new events in 2012;
  • Thirty-six percent predict an uptick in sponsorship revenue this year; 57% expect the status quo, and only 11% expect the dark side;
  • Sixty-eight percent consider younger attendee needs when developing educational programming.

Make no mistake:  concerns about the uneven recovery loom large.  My take:  with large cash reserves, companies are focused on growth.  And that means hanging out where their customers are.  And that means opportunities for us not only in these venues but with sponsorships in general.  Click here for the news release.
