Pull Your Trigger

What do buyers expect of thought leaders they hire?  Not just to motivate or inspire.  Many folks want us to change the behaviors of others.  (As if we have a magic wand.)

That’s why BJ Fogg’s behavior model from Stanford’s Persuasive Tech Lab caught my eye.  Love the simplicity of his ideas.  But…pay attention to the third element:  “hot triggers” that get the ball rolling.

As thought leaders, we can motivate people.  We can give them the tools to make the change easier.  But without what Dr. Fogg calls “hot triggers”, nothing will happen.  And guess what?  When it doesn’t, it’s on us.

So here’s my question:  does your work create triggers to act?  What do you do that propels action?  This answer is the difference between smart people and thought leaders.  Proceed accordingly.
