Three Ways Your Platform Expands Your Business

A platform is a container that holds your brilliance in all of its forms.

I talk to a lot of brilliant people about their platform. Their biggest struggle: how to find the best option that highlights their uniqueness but doesn’t limit their options.

Everybody wants to stand out. But that fear of limiting their opportunities is really just a mental barrier. Here’s are three ways your best platform expands your business:

1. Streamlines opportunity management. Talented folks get all sorts of offers to play. And many spend too much time deciding what project to invest in. A clear and strategic platform asks the question: is this the best and highest use of my talent? Figuring out what to say “no thanks” to just got a lot easier.

2. Clarifies your brand story. When many thought leaders talk about themselves, they give a history lesson. Listeners are impressed, but they don’t know what to do with all of that information. A platform creates a lens to tell your story and explains your perspective. Result: buyers know what to expect from you. Now they are focused on how to work with you instead of whether they should work with you.

3. Jumpstarts sales conversations. Sales conversations are an outcome of the above point. If buyers know what to do with you, they already “see” the need. Connecting you with their need creates urgency and better opportunities.

A platform is a container that holds your brilliance in all of its forms: content, opportunities, and conversations. It focuses the attention on you. It helps people understand your role and how you can improve their condition.
