Two Ways to Take Advantage of Crazy Markets

You think you’re in a crazy market? Check out healthcare in this article by strategy+business. Yep, we live in interesting times.

As consumers, we all should be interested in what’s going on here. Pay closer attention though to the two approaches the authors identify and drill down on. These clever labels — gold miners and bartenders — outline business models that apply to us as thought leaders too.

Sure, it’s easy to be the bartenders — most of us are. But….don’t discount the gold miners. The authors warn of blurred lines between the two. This can happen in our industry too. Think about it: aren’t the most sought-after speakers those who created some cool thing and now talk about it? (And even advise others on how to create the same thing?) Of course they do.

Moral of the story: don’t see these approaches as either / or. See them as possible competitors. And position your brilliance accordingly.
