Two Web Design Trends to Use Right Now

The desire to be authentic is driving the increased use of hand-drawn art in web design.

Are you tired of the same old website formats? Me, too. That’s why Fast Company’s article “6 Web Design Trends That Are Here To Stay” caught my eye. Most of these trends are pretty out there, but don’t stop reading just yet. Here are two things we can look at now:

1. Hand-drawn art. Gone are the stock photos. Taking their place is line drawing. (I saw a lot of this at TED2016, too.) The desire to be authentic is driving this development; the art form conveys originality and warmth. This kind of visual will be a lot like fonts. Brands will be associated with the art style’s look and feel. Prediction: watch for low-cost options in this area to burst on the scene within a year.

2. Animation. Yes, we’re obsessed with storytelling, and animation helps us do that. Be careful, though, too much of a good thing is still too much. The key: use animation strategically.
