Unlearn What’s Obsolete

Heads up:  I have a new favorite blogger.  Check out Elizabeth Zielinski’s recent blog posts on the meetings biz.

In this post, she is calling for the demise of my two least favorite things:  classroom seating and speaking for exposure.  She calls the game without coming off like a jerk.

In a later post, she dissects the meeting from  an attendee point of view.  She offers fabulous ideas that are simple, practical, and not too common.  My heart just sings when I heart “content is everything”.

I see this connection:  to implement new ideas given in the July 25th post, you have to unlearn what you think you are good at.  And she’s right.  Until we help our clients give up some space for new ideas to take hold, our findings will only collect electronic dust on some computer file.  To do that, we have to go first.

So I’ll ask you the same question she asks her readers:  what are you willing to unlearn?
