What Big Boys Are Saying About Market Strategy Changes in 2013

Marketing and branding doesn’t happen in a vacuum.  So what is going on in our world that impacts how our value is defined?  These big-dawg experts have some interesting predictions in this Fast Company article.

My favorites:

  • Collective intelligence.  That silly YouTube video becomes viral not because so many people discovered it.  It’s because so many people were recommended to it.  Lee Maicon says it best”  We make decisions that we think are free will but are in fact driven by the recommendations we get.”
  • 2013 is the year of the higher ideals.  Are you a force for good?  For progress?  How are you using your expertise to solve a big problem such as homelessness or education?  What higher ideal do you stand for?  This will drive storytelling in business.  And…what are you doing to get that message out there?
  • Truth well told:  We are entering a no-spin zone.  As thought leaders, how can we tell the truth without coming off as obnoxious?

But hey, don’t take my word for it.  Here’s the article:  what are your favorite predictions?  And…what do you think the impact is for us thought leaders?
