What Matters Most

It’s too easy to get caught up with our day-to-day duties, checking those boxes and feeling pretty good about what we got done.  Sometimes though, it’s time to peer above the computer screen and make sure we’re focused on the most important things.

This Fast Company article outlines five killer questions to keep us focused.  My favorite one is number three:  what are we willing to sacrifice?  I think we are all willing to give up something for our mission.  My follow-up question:  is that sacrifice enough?  Or…do we have to go beyond what we’ve signed up for to get where we say we want to go?

My recent experience with the new website tells me “yes”.  I was all ready to keep the second design, knowing full well that something wasn’t quite right but I couldn’t put my finger on it.  Getting the current design wasn’t what I was ready to do (again).  But at the crossroads, when I had to decide to support my cause or cut my losses, my heart knew the answer.  I couldn’t live with myself if I kept the second design knowing that the best design was out there.
