What Thought Leaders Do With Their Content

Many thought leaders say they are in the business of breakthroughs.  The logic here:  their ideas, their systems, their inspiring story will help people defy the odds.  Not so fast.  According to Marcia Reynolds, behind every breakthrough is a breakdown.  And facilitating that territory of resistance is what her book The Discomfort Zone is all about.

I’ve read this book.  It is a very real conversation about conversations many of us don’t want to have.  The upshot:  we have to handle the breakdown first.  And our brains will sabotage that effort every time.  From that place, Marcia gives real-world, rubber-meets-the-road insights and tactics to make our interactions count.

This book is a great example of the difference between talented experts and sought-after thought leaders.  The former reframe the problem and rehash the details.  The latter take their brilliance and go where many fear to tread.  Reframes are now free; but folks will pay for help on trips to the dark side.

The Discomfort Zone is great for any of us in the breakthrough business.  Check out her book and see for yourself.
