Why Sponsors Want Thought Leaders

This IEG article out in the Spring highlights a sponsorship trend we need to pay attention to.

The good news here: sponsors — those third parties who pay for speaker fees and other goodies — are looking for connections to “personalities and talent” (that’s us!) in their deals. Yes, the big dawg sponsors might be looking for celebrities, but make no mistake: all sponsors are looking for content they can distribute and be associated with.

Another key finding from the article: the use of PR and marketing firms to support these relationships. Why we care: because these folks are easier to find than the specific buyer from corporate. Think about it.  If we have strong relationships with PR firms who can pitch us to their clients, do we have the inside track?  Yes, we do.
