E-learning Trends

Many experts are looking to e-learning as ways to serve clients who don’t need our personal attention.  Here’s an interesting article from T&D Magazine (e-mail registration required) that shows what the big dawgs are thinking about.  My favorite findings are in the design department:

  • Spacing and chunking are great ways to help retain what folks are learning.  More retention, more repeat clients.
  • Social media learning is going beyond YouTube and into building community.  Again, more engaged clients equals more repeat business.
  • Personalization is spreading quickly through the e-learning space on a corporate level.  It’s only a matter of time before the cost is reduced to the point where we can pull it off.  Stay tuned.

Don’t worry about implementing all the trends now.  Choose what you can implement now and what needs to wait.  This is also great information for experts already training in Corporate America.  Ask yourself:  how can I use these trends to launch e-learning initiatives for my content?
