I’ve written a lot about how some market developments level the playing field between larger well-funded shops and smaller boutique firms. Developments in Artificial intelligence (AI) have sped up that democratization in two ways:

1. Generative AI (ChatGPT) Lets You Create More Content Faster

Large organizations have always had a competitive advantage when it comes to the amount of content created. With AI such as ChatGPT, however, anyone can produce content quickly.

“Content creation is the biggest payday for smaller brands and marketing shops, as the sheer volume of content that can be produced at scale with the help of the AI bot is staggering,” writes Louise Burgers in a CMO Council blog post.

2. AI Is Transforming Content Design

In the past, it was hard to compete with companies that had full-time designers at their disposal. Now, AI-powered visual art tools—such as NightCafe, Canva, Visma, and D-ID—make it possible for anyone to turn data and insights into great visual content. Plus, buyers will expect you to provide it. You no longer have an excuse not to use video, animation, and other graphics in your content.

The leveling of these playing fields does have a downside. There’s an increased chance that you will look like your competitors. Prediction: Standing out from your competition will become more challenging. Be prepared to level up your content marketing.
