Got a LinkedIn company page? Then you’ll want to check out a new analysis from Socialinsider on the best LinkedIn post formats for engagement.

What I like about this report is the sample size: a dataset of 1 million posts from 9,000 company pages. That’s enough to spot real patterns, not just one-off wins.

Topping the list for engagement were carousel slide shows and document attachments, followed closely by videos. Surprising, right? Especially since LinkedIn’s own research has often put video at the top. But here’s the twist: this data focuses specifically on company pages, not personal profiles—and that makes all the difference.

What the stats point to: Format matters.

In a sea of content, insights alone won’t cut it. With so many good ideas everywhere all at once, it creates that “dime for a dozen” vibe. So now, how we package what we know is the real differentiator. That’s why understanding the best LinkedIn post formats is no longer a nice-to-know—it’s a must-know.

And this shift is bigger than it looks. It’s time to start shopping for tools that help you rethink how you deliver your message. (Hint: AI can help here, too.)

The bottom line: Insightful thinking alone isn’t enough to generate engagement or opportunities. The marketplace decides what gets shared—and what gets ignored—based on how the content is delivered.
