Heads up: Artificial intelligence (AI) has entered the public speaking arena.

Yoodli recently opened up its free website to improve public speaking. It uses AI to give pointers on how to improve presentations, increasing the confidence factor for presenters everywhere.

I don’t think Toastmasters is in any danger, as AI cannot replace community. However, this development is an example of a bigger issue we all face: “Good enough” solutions have reached mass scale and will continue to flood the market.

How AI-powered Yoodli Impacts Thought Leaders

Here are two ways Yoodli affects thought leaders:

• Personalization becomes a commodity. Yoodli goes beyond the basic to-do list and standard assessments. Folks can upload their recorded speech and get instant and specific feedback. This change in buyer expectations is a game changer. We can no longer use personalization as a differentiator.

• Behavior change will be redefined. The best thing about sites like Yoodli is that folks can practice. That ongoing support can be redefined by access. Will this replace personal feedback? For basic skill building, yes. For situation-specific cases, maybe. But for ongoing, nuanced input, coaches and advisors still have the edge.
