An Easier Way to Increase Your Value

Observation: Sometimes we do things the hard way. (Yep, guilty as charged.)

Exhibit A: This report from CMO Council has more than great information about our possible buyers. Look at how the CMO expands their value in their current environment. By changing their role from storyteller to the voice of their customers, CMOs are now more valuable in their organization’s growth initiative.

This change in role—from storyteller to advocate—can be applied to thought leaders, too. Think about it: If you expand your role, you create new value in places where your credibility is the highest. You take advantage of your success without becoming a “one-hit wonder.”

So ask yourself: What else can I be in my marketplace?


Listen: Go beyond your current reputation, and increase your role 


A lot of people expand their value with new content for new market segments. That sounds great in a marketing plan, but it requires you to compete from a place of weakness. Expanding your role where you are a rock star could be a whole lot easier. Just sayin’.
