How to Persuade Clients to Use a New Tool

A recent post from HR Daily Advisor gives a heads-up many of us have been dreading: AI chatbots are crafting employee training programs. While that’s disturbing, I want to move past the topic and focus on how the writer advocates for a new tool. You can use the same strategies when you want people to use a new product or service.

Here are two messages you can use to persuade clients to use a new tool:

• Expand availability: A great way to advocate for a new process or tool is to tout who can benefit from it. In the case of AI chatbots for training and development, the answer is small business that wouldn’t otherwise have access to training. It’s hard to oppose more folks getting help. Ask yourself: Who now has help developing training?

• Easier and better: The author touts AI as a great starting point for developing training programs. This use eliminates the dread of looking at a blank screen and thinking, “Where do I begin?” By eliminating tedious tasks and focusing on the creative aspects, you make the emotional case for adopting something new.

A lot of us recommend changes to clients and help them manage change. Perhaps we can also help them advocate for those changes.
