Will Artificial Intelligence Disrupt Your Business?

After seeing several TED talks about machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI), I wondered when the other shoe would drop and disrupt my space. According to this news release about Taylor Brands, the barbarians are rushing towards the gates. And I’m not alone.

Move past their core business – visual branding for non-creatives. And check out what’s on their horizon: Using AI to write copy and social media campaigns. And believe me, companies like this won’t stop there. Machines taking over activities will happen sooner rather than later.

Which forces this question: What changes are needed to deal with this new competitor? My take: We can’t compete on price, speed or quality. The machines will win on that one. We need to overhaul the game we’re playing. One place to start: Look at our role in the new process.

Yep, machines and digital will overhaul our markets. But we’re not obsolete yet. If we focus on our part, our contribution, and the impact that makes, machines and humans can occupy (or even collaborate) in the same space.
