Gen Z Is Changing Leadership. Are You Ready?

Dang, this Quartz article made me feel pretty old. Gen Z is turning 30 and moving into management roles. Like the boomers before them, these folks are game changers, so the rest of us need to buckle up.
I see a great opportunity here for leadership coaches and experts who are communicating with Gen Z leaders. The next challenge for executives from older generations is learning how to become authentic “explainers.”
Now stay with me on this. If Gen Z wants the “why” behind decisions, leaders need to learn how to explain that reasoning in a way that’s both relevant and trustworthy. Is there a balance between creating understanding and constantly spilling the tea that undermines your leadership role? It’s a delicate dance that’s easier said than done.
I don’t think many current leaders have mastered those nuances. That’s an opportunity for leadership coaches and experts who can teach storytelling with influence.
If you’re communicating with Gen Z leaders, test drive this idea in your content marketing and sales conversations. Explain the “why” behind your recommendations in a relevant and trustworthy way. You might be surprised by the engagement and reactions.
