How AI Chooses Experts

According to this BizWomen article, AI is changing the game (again) to redefine who is an expert.
Yes, the gender bias in the datasets is real and a problem for women. But all of us want to be on that AI-generated list of top voices in our space. To do that, the article is clear: AI is looking for independent evidence of your good reputation.
Key quote: “AI platforms are simply looking for corroboration. They recognize …. whose expertise is consistently validated across sources they already index and trust.”
In other words, those bots want receipts.
This right here is another good reason for getting out there. But the routes have changed. While consistency still matters, the big shift is that direct connection between your perspective and specific ideas, niches, specific problems across different outlets. (Emphasis mine.) This means that blogging and social media posts are not enough. Your views need to be covered by outsiders with their own credibility.
Your next best move is two-fold:
- Tighten up your messaging. Your content, presentations and media must connect to problems, an idea, a lane that you can own.
- Show up in prominent places. Change your media pitch list to highly respected platforms and publications, such as industry associations.
For AI, experts are more than a good origin story and long list of blog posts. It’s time for credible outsiders to know you for something specific.
