Great news! If you manage a Facebook group, Facebook has new time-saving features for moderators.

The new comment moderator tools and controls are designed to make it easier for creators to manage conversations on the social network.

According to an article in TechCrunch, “Creators will now be able to search comments by keywords, including emojis, commenter names and dates, on their posts and take bulk actions, such as liking or hiding.”

A lot of us post thought-provoking content and want a lively discussion. These new tools make it easier to rein in members who go too far.

2 Ways New Facebook Moderating Tools Impact Community Builders

The new moderating tools will impact community builders two ways:

The preemptive strike. Facebook now allows community managers to proactively moderate new comments using criteria you set in advance. Just think: Posts with name-calling can be hidden before you see them.

• A consistent approach. Bulk actions based on keywords (and even emojis) allow you to create a uniform position.

As someone who has moderated verbal barroom brawls on Facebook, I look forward to using these tools. The key: Communicate your rules of engagement without starting another debate.
