How Amazon’s AI Ready Initiative Impacts B2B Companies

In a move only a 500-pound industry gorilla can make, Amazon is providing free generative AI training for in-demand jobs. Their goal: 2 million “AI ready” people by 2025. I’m not betting against this.

In Amazon’s announcement, the company outlines rational and educational paths. (Check out the courses for business and nontechnical audiences.)

This move and the proliferation of people who have AI skills will impact B2B business owners in two ways:

• Finding AI talent to implement ideas will be easy. Remember how hard it was – then easier, then super easy – to find someone to help with your website? Multiply that process by 10 on the AI front. With more folks competing for your business, the costs will go down quickly. This flood of talent will also level the playing field between small and larger shops, launching an AI free-for-all not yet experienced. Buckle up.

• Sales and marketing must stand out. Educational content will become so ubiquitous that the branding game will move elsewhere. Leveraging this asset will also become more difficult, as audiences will tire of pitches at the end of educational content. In addition, some companies will use AI to build a huge content library. But without a robust marketing plan, this strategy will have limited success.

Business owners need to identify the best use of AI in their business model. That will be easier said than done. But Amazon’s AI courses are a great first step.
